Near Warwick UK

This is the tunnel that goes under the town of Shrewley that we visited yesterday; the fishing pond is likely just to the left.  

To get to town, you just walked up the path on the right, through the short tunnel, and there you were, on the town's main drag. 

Today, we took the left lane, under the village via a short tunnel.

We had a lot of locks to do today, probably close to 38 or so. Photography was not really a popular option as there was work to do getting through the locks.

Here's Len lining up the boat to thread the needle while Joan and Judy rush to the next lock to do the gates and doors. Of course, I'm already at the next gates, having done the gates and waiting to close the doors...  But that's for another time.

Some of the scenery is exactly what I had hoped for; placid farm-scapes, hedgerows, and fancy farmhouses.  Enjoy!

Of course, there were pretty houses along the canal also.

Here, Len is ordering beverages before we order lunch at this canal side pub.

As a table outside became available, we moved there, so here's the motley crew waiting for lunch.

Joan identified this as a Moorhen.  There weren't many, but we did see a few.

This is a wonderful butterfly which I hope to be able to identify soon.

The day went quickly as we descended about 38 locks, each one exacting a fair bit of energy to open the doors, open the gates to let the water in or out of the clock.  It's quite a simple process and you quickly get into a rhythm to make it all work well.  We shared each lock with another boat that had parents with decades of experience, and an adult daughter who knew the ropes.  All went well; and we're all fairly tired if not exhausted...
