We went to visit the Midway Aircraft-carrier today: what an overpowering experience. We spent three hours with the audio tutor, walking, climbing, walking some more, and climbing tour. What a fascinating experience. Here's the wikipedia link.

Navy ranks, like all military ranks, have their own hierarchy the 'Chief' being the highest of the enlisted men. [as opposed to the officers].
Chiefs are the ones who train everyone, officers and enlisted men, and they seem to look after themselves very well: their food choices were often much better than the senior officers!

Meanwhile, on the flight deck, this guy was hand painting the airplane's number. Maybe my son Nick should be contracting for suitable long-lasting decals?

Next is part of the ship's command tower. It also contains the accommodations for the fleet Admiral and other high ranking officials.
The ship's Captain has minimal lodging accommodations here, but has more substantial and luxurious accommodations elsewhere on the ship.
All in all, a very information filled day: well worth the effort.
