The Owl at Big Cypress RV Resort

Yesterday we drove around the local village and generally had a very lazy day.  After supper, we witnessed an owl, shopping for bugs on the campground road.  This is apparently a nightly event!  Other campers have shown us their pictures so here are mine.

The picture above shows the hairy legs and large talons of this foot high owl.  He's actually standing on the road, using his wings to move less than a foot towards that black bug on the road.

The next picture is the same owl just capturing another bug on the road.

There were actually two owls out on their nightly prowl last night but the other one was more elusive.  This one was not shy at all and was quite easy to approach; I was probably less than 4 feet away for some of these shots.  Strangely enough, the owls were easier to approach if someone held a spot light on them, which an unknown camper nearby was quite pleased to do. Today: the swamp buggy!
