Today we had our first lunch at the Red Bar this year, a much cherished thought, but first, the puzzles. This first one took a few days, the pieces were funky, the design quite hellish. Green probably accounted for more than half the pieces...

The next was a fairly small puzzle: 500 pieces, with the final image being small also. The pieces had ridiculous shapes, but all in all, the puzzle was done in less than 24 hours.
What follows is our intrepid lunch crew: Len, Jan, Judy, and Joan. [Yours truly was on the other side of the pixel arranger.]
Here the intrepid foursome is eying a house for sale. Not far from the beach, on a secluded street, this architect designed house is very large and even has a covered pool. All four shoppers, with all the help of their very best of friends, couldn't negotiate a down-payment should they want to... This place is well into the 7 figures! ... even in this downward spiraling economy.
Lunch: The Red Bar has been a fixture in Grayton Beach ever since we started to volunteer at the State Park, about 10 years ago. Most years, we went many times. The decorations are ridiculous, but they do create an ambiance without equal. Even the washrooms are decorated with 50 + year old newspapers, advertisements and old posters. You have to 'go' just to experience it! The washrooms are too small for pictures, but the rest of the interior is just fine. What fun!
Note the bar in the next picture [behind the red curtain]; I should make another series of that room!
This is the entrance / exit.
Ceiling! [This is the only picture where the flash was used. The others were all hand-held for periods as high as one second. Beer has a wonderful calming effect for some...]
And the waiting area for those without reservations. Others have to wait outside, sometimes for a very long time.
The Red Bar also has a small area outside on the West side of the building, and an outside center courtyard. Inside, there's the actual bar-room plus a room at the back of the building. Some might say that you are witness to a gold-mine...The food is often better than average, the noise horrific, often crowded, but we'll try to keep going when we can.
All this, just steps away from the beach, but not a single chair with a beach-view, go figure.
