After a short day of travel from the Gulf to the Atlantic side, and the usual unpacking and settling in, we deserved a supper at our favourite Carrabba's in Port St Lucie.
Expectations and hopes were very high: we had enjoyed many fine meals with good friends at this particular Carrabba's two years ago.
Some things change, some things actually improve!
We met Debbie the owner and Justin, one of the chefs; the only people we remembered from two years ago. Saddened to not find the others, we ordered some of our favourite meals and were not disappointed. Chris had the crab-cakes, Joan: the scallops, Peter: the chicken, and I had the Pasta Weesie.
We all felt that our meals met and surpassed our high expectations, not a small feat when you consider what two year old memories can do to a dish.
We sat on the pizza oven side of the kitchen-bar, and enjoyed the constant hectic pace that these chefs have to maintain until closing. I seem to think that they now have more chefs in the kitchen, and that the pace is even more hectic:
Our friend of two years ago, Justin, is the one with the goatee at the far end.
As mentioned above, we were seated at the oven end where these two small dishes were being shown some serious heat in the wood fired oven:
Our meals were a very definite improvement over our supper at the 'home' of the Carrabba's chain, the original restaurant, still owned by the family in Houston Texas.
We'll definitely be back at the Port St Lucie Carrabba's, and you'll find us at the kitchen-bar, where all the action is.
