Today, Joan and I went back to Balboa Park while the house was being cleaned. The very large lath house still had some Christmas themed plants. Poinsettias grow naturally here, and we've seen some blooming in people's gardens nearby.
We'll definitely return when the orchids are the main attraction...
The buildings here were created for the world fair in 1915, and were built with a very strong Spanish style. Arches, staircases, and tropical plants make for interesting sights.
Some eucalyptus trees can grow into skyscrapers.
The blooms of some cactus plants also can touch the sky.
Note the zigzagging paths on the other side of this canyon. Walking and biking trails seem to be everywhere. Right next to these stalks is a path where we saw three or four groups of Navy types doing their chants while running. They certainly were fit.
This is a new branch growing on a very old part of the tree trunk. The trunk gathered these colours over time and I thought it would make a nice contrast of new over old.
