Blytheville Arkansas to Defiance Ohio

From 9am to 7pm we drove from early Summer into early Spring: how cool is that?

These two pictures were made at our first rest stop of the day, somewhere in Illinois [I think]. The scenery is much like home near dense bush in the early spring. The vinca was in full bloom, the trees in early or very early bud.

At the start of the day, it was quite interesting to note the precursors of spring like the red buds, flowering crabs, dogwoods and forsythia, all in glorious bloom.

In Ohio at the end of the day,  the trees are barely budding and fields are still hibernating, even though there are no signs of snow yet.

I thought this sign on the side of the rest room was interesting, trail of tears seemingly inappropriate of the name of an Interstate highway.  It turns out the highway was named the Blue Star highway in commemoration those who died at war, thus the trail of tears.

As usual, the day was uneventful and went quickly with Hercules Poirot doing his Belgian best to confuse his Scotland Yard partner in solving the Monogram Murders.  To be continued tomorrow...
