Doswell Va to near Jacksonville Florida

Yet another 9am start on a clear, sunny day with a barely freezing temp. to end up in Florida [barely] where it's a comfy 15ºC , what could be better?

I had expected rain and was thoroughly disappointed, not a single drop, not even a rain-worthy cloud.  Are we favoured travellers or what?

Today was a truly uneventful day.  We left all traces of snow behind, drove from mixed trees to large pine forests, and then to palm trees here and there  all in all, a smooth drive through interesting scenery: it's something you'll have to do for yourself someday...

At noon, we pulled into a Ruby Tuesday's restaurant, a chain of restaurants you should know about and go to at every opportunity.  We each ordered their mini hamburgers and the salad-bar, a grand total of $21 with a coffee.  We've been to a half dozen Ruby Tuesdays so far, and every last one had the freshest salad bar we've ever encountered.  Their food matches anyone's expectations easily, and the prices are more than just reasonable.  A great quality food choice, good ambiance, at a really good price, so why do we bother eating elsewhere...

At 15:30, we stopped for gas.  It was 15ºC, the gas was $3.09/us gal, and we saw two young men with huge backpacks, each with a full grown cat, and the smaller friend [possibly female] with a medium sized mutt, all hitch-hiking on the Interstate.  While they looked young and innocent, I wouldn't pick them up, mainly because we just didn't have the room for their humoungous, extra large back-packs, let alone the menagerie of two cats and a dog.  Oh, the innocence and dreams of youth...  But that's another story.

Tomorrow should be relatively easy drive: six hours, sunny, warm, [short sleeves, shorts and sandals], on relatively unused State roads, as opposed to the Interstates.  With any luck, we should be there before supper...

Stay tuned...
