Wild Animal Park

Today was a shopping day, so no pixels were damaged in the production of this daily blog.  Instead, I used an image made a few days ago when we went to the Wild Animal Park, in the outskirts of San Diego.  This park is affiliated with the San Diego Zoo and is located outside Balboa Park, in the outskirts, north east of centre-town.

We drove to the Wild Animal Centre on January 19th with Kathleen, Phillip and Jan.  We took the local Park train through the park, then walked for what seems like forever.  We saw all manner of African wildlife as well as a few condors.  The whole park was surrounded by the wildfires of last fall but miraculously escaped any serious damage.

This image is of the dominant male lion that has been responsible for an excellent breeding program for the park.  They attempt to breed endangered animals and return their offspring to the wild.  The Park ended up being a great source of images for cats, raptors, elephants, giraffes and other interesting wildlife.  It's a must see if you're in the neighbourhood.
