Another early morning adventure with Phyllis and David and their birding friends.
This is the group that welcomed me in their frequent walks to hunt birds, have a good time together, and get a few hours of exercise ambling in the preserve.
It's fairly obvious who the birders are, and who the plant-people are. Both groups usually get separated early on but meet for lunch at the parking lot picnic tables for a very social wrap-up.
That's a red-bellied woodpecker on the right.
Above is my old friend, the lawn-aerator, most often called a Great Egret.
Below is a first sighting for me, the Reddish Egret in its dark phase. Click on picture to see larger if you like.
In reserve, I now have more pictures of yesterday's adventure at Bunche Beach, another county preserve. While I was there, Joan and Chris went to a massive flea market where nothing was bought, and fewer things were touched...
Daily activities around here always include a little shopping, walks with Cragen, reading and swimming at the pool, nicely cooked home made meals, with most days ending with a hotly contested game of Bitch. [As opposed to past years, the men are well ahead in the winning column, so far...]
Today we're off to Sanibel, including Cragen, for a lunch at Cips, and an afternoon of shelling on what has to be one of the worlds best shelling island.
