Jan, Joan and I visited the revitalized old centre town where they did a splendid job of making a welcoming tourist attraction out of what had become a somewhat tired old set of buildings.
On-street parking was free for two hours, seriously enforced, and free municipal parking was available about three or four blocks away. Pay parking was about $1/hour. We also noted that the free parking areas we saw were also free wifi hotspots, as were local parks, benches, fountains and such areas; something our northern cities could learn...
At the waterside, we saw this floating barge home set up as a hairdresser / nails / massage business. What a great idea!
Of course, we had to eat at a highly recommended restaurant: Yanos, on First St. featuring modern cuisine, whatever that is.
Turns out we each had a lunch we'd gladly order again and again! How great is that?
And finally, we spotted this banyan tree that had us spellbound.
With walks along the water's edge, looking at beautifully restored old buildings and sharing a great lunch amongst friends, what more could we possibly want.
Jan headed off to her campsite, an hour away, and we headed to comfortable chairs and a good book [read: snooze].
Can't get any better than that.
