In late afternoon, Joan and I went for an hour's walk along the boardwalks of our development.
Again, the butterfly area had quite a few Monarchs, always a nice sight.
Nearby, we saw this Red Shouldered Hawk, just before he flew off to find his mate.
After the briefest courtship possible, here he is beside his mate, just sitting there, enjoying the moment. They remained there a few minutes while we left.
Later on, Joan spotted this snake, sunning himself on a log.
Further on the walk, this Ibis flew from behind a cypress and lunged at a fish, that I suspect, just got away. Even fish have a lucky moment or two.
We met a young couple and young child who told us about two baby alligators, just beyond the snake that we had just seen.
The alligators were still there, gathering what little heat there was from a weak sun. One was sleeping, the other lazily on watch duty.
Each was about a foot long so they are very young. We spent some time looking for Mom who had to be nearby, but no luck finding her.

Tomorrow, we drive to Sanibel: the girls will be shelling, I will be birding.
