A rainy Thursday in San Diego, and excellent time to visit Balboa Park. Our first stop, an annual favourite, is the Lath House. Like all facilities in Balboa Park, it was built a hundred years ago. Here's a view just left of the main entrance: a large poisonous datura plant in full boom. Note the escapee further at the back of the lath house.
The operating hours are open Friday to Wednesday. OOOps, today is Thursday. Maybe on our next visit.

It's a very large 'greenhouse' and a return visit is in order.
All the buildings in Balboa Park were built for a world exhibition in 1915. There was a Spanish theme for the architecture, many buildings having already been renovated.
The buildings are beautiful and many have been re-purposed into museums, art galleries, etc.
Some outdoor courtyards have pleasant tables and chairs, all empty on a rainy day.
We also visited the Timken Art Museum. It's a small but very pleasant private collection of art pieces.
This next shot has a Rembrandt and a Rubens: what a privilege to see them both!
It seems San Diego is receiving much welcomed rain. They suffered a major drought for about 5 years now, and really need lots of rain to refill their reservoirs. We'll just have to find indoor activities until the sun makes its presence felt.
