Just received a note from our friends that included pictures of family skiing and in the hot tub. Since they couldn't make it here this year because of health insurance issues, it is great to see that they are not sitting around moping... Life is Good indeed.
Next is a shot made out of our window in Shippenburg PA before leaving. Cool but sunny, much like early this morning.
These are orchids firmly installed in the live oak, just a few doors away from us. All seem well established and healthy. How I wish...
At the foot of the tree, this little terrestrial orchid proudly shows its stuff
Right beside the yellow bloom were these other terrestrial orchids.
Yesterday, Saturday, Joan and I drove over to Sanibel for an afternoon of Bridge with good friends from Ohio.
Before that, we stopped into Noah's, a church led thrifty store that is run by volunteers and reputed to be excellent. They were just closing as we drove up; next time, we will go before noon...
Still having some time before our Bridge date, we stopped at the Bailey Tract for a quick short nature walk. While I suspect that there are less birds around than last year, nature walks around here usually have pleasant surprises, this one being a Tri-Colour Heron [I think, I'm pretty rusty...]
Next is a Cormorant
And lastly, a multi unit Purple Martin house with the top stories blown off in a serious storm.
Bridge? Fabulous. The hands were weirder than usual, as was the bidding, and two slams were made. One was even bid and made <grin grin> After a fun afternoon of relaxed Bridge, off we went to Trader 2 for supper, in separate cars...
Carmen, our Garmin, doesn't have a listing for Trader 2 [that we could find] so we ended up at Trader something or other where they gave us the address for Trader 2. A few miles later, on Periwinkle, the main drag for Sanibel, we found the restaurant and our friends, and continued sharing stories and laughing while having a very good meal. All's well that ends well.
Since it was now raining, the top was up for the first time since New Years when the car was washed. No skiing down here...
